On Giving
Acts 20:35 (King James Version):
“I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
I have been very fortune in this (relatively) young life so far. I have seen exotic places, eaten exotic food, and spent far too much money on shoes. Yet, in my years of working in Ottawa during the dot-com/bomb days, the concept of tithing never occurred to me. Now, faced with health challenges that I have dedicated myself to healing, I see now that part of this process involves healing my relationship with money. I have now dedicated myself to tithing 10% of my income. I have selected my donation recipients as those who provided the most inadvertent (spiritual) kindnesses and inspiration when I was challenged the most with my health. I never knew how good it felt to give… and more so, to give quietly.
